Gr 9 Up-The publisher's newest collection of comics-related experiences dips into the social, creative, economic, and political aspects of comics conventions as experienced by fans, artists, collectors, and cosplayers. Nicholson's editing is again sensitive, bringing together prose pieces and comics. Well-known names such as Trina Robbins, Anthony Oliveira, and Amy Chu contribute, along with newcomers, making this an inclusive, cohesive work. There are tips on handling high-energy situations for introverts, getting established at cons as an artist, and fashioning cosplay costumes that will survive crowd crushing. Though there are more than 40 creatives chiming in here, there is little repetition in this satisfying title. VERDICT Nicholson's latest compendium will appeal to those unfamiliar with comics and readers whose families have been taking them to comic cons from early childhood.-Francisca Goldsmith, Library Ronin, Worcester, MA
