Katie Malone and her twin boys' trip along the beautiful mountain roads to Virgin
River is stopped short by a tire as flat as her failed romance. To make matters worse, the
rain has set in, the boys are hungry, and Katie doesn't have the first clue about putting
on a spare. As she stands at the side of the road pondering her next move, she hears a
distinct rumble. The sight of the sexy, leather-clad bikers who pull up beside her puts
her imagination into overdrive.
Dylan Childress and his buddies are on the motorcycle trip of a lifetime. But the
sight of a woman in distress stops them in their tracks. And while the guys are checking
out her car, she and Dylan are checking out one another.
In one brief moment, the world tilts on its axis and any previous plans Katie and
Dylan might have had for their futures are left at the side of the road.

Therse Plummer's light, lovely voice is the perfect pairing for this sweet romance. Using tonal variation and effective pauses, Plummer brings to life this installment in the Virgin River series. Beautiful widow Katie Malone, the mother of 5-year-old twins, gets a flat tire while driving to Virgin River. This brings her squarely into the sights of gorgeous Dylan Childress, a former child star who considers himself a bad long-term bet for romance. But he can't deny the sparks that fly. Good acting, witty dialogue, and a fun love story warm the heart. A.C.P. © AudioFile 2012, Portland, Maine

This 18th installment of the "Virgin River" series features the return of plucky Katie Malone, sister of Connor Danson from the previous entry, "Hidden Summit". Katie is traveling to Virgin River and back to Connor in search of family stability for her twin sons when a flat tire temporarily delays her arrival. Spotting Katie struggling in the rain, playboy and former childhood television star Dylan Childress is all too willing to help play the valiant prince riding to her rescue on his stallion Harley. An immediate, undeniable attraction kindles a passion between Katie and Dylan--when that passion turns out to be love, they must decide how much they are willing to risk. Narrator Therese Plummer executes the female and children's voices expertly, especially her dramatization of Dylan's grandmother, Adele. Male voices present more of a challenge and at times are indistinguishable from one another and frequently punctuated by scratchy exhalations. VERDICT The strong chemistry between the two main characters coupled with the breathtaking, cozy Virgin River setting will more than satisfy fans of this popular series.
